TV Stations Take Bailout Loans from the Government
/The way the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) was sold to the citizens was it there to help out “mom & pop” type businesses to keep them up and running in the COVID-19 pandemic.
But as the list of who gobbled up the loans has started coming out, we see that a number of bigger companies took the basically free money.
Two Oklahoma TV stations were on the list.
Griffin Communications, Oklahoma’s largest media company and owner of KOTV in Tulsa and KWTV in Oklahoma City, received a loan in the five to ten-million-dollar range.
Yes, Oklahoma’s largest media stuck their hand in the pie and took out millions of dollars. Now, those same stations will be reaping in millions more in political money between now and the election.
Oh, don’t forget that also make millions of dollars when you pay your cable bill in retransmission money.
Griffin Communications is a long way from a mom & pop operation and yet there they were with their hand out taking some free money.
As Trump would say, “SAD.”
