Today on The Inbox we hear from a Tegna employee that wonders why so many of the Tegna News Directors are White?

I appreciate you pointing out the lack of diversity on some TV newscasts but it’s time to talk about management too.

I work for Tegna and it has to be the whitest media company in the country. We own 60 stations. Try to find a person of color running a Tegna newsroom. GMs? Almost all white.

Has anyone at the corporate office looked around and noticed this? Probably not because all the top people there are white too. Tegna may put some people of color ON TV but the ones with real power, the ones making the decisions all look the same.

As a POC, I want to know how Tegna can claim to represent ALL of its communities when there’s no diversity of thought anywhere in management. Mr Lougee, why do you allow this to happen?

Our company needs to do better.
