New GM Named in Mobile

I love seeing when a news person gets a bump up to the GM chair.

More often than not, it’s some stooge from sales that gets those jobs.

KPTV (Portland) news boss Corey Hanson is moving to Mobile, Alabama to be the GM at WALA. Both stations are owned by Meredith.

Hanson joined KPTV in 2004 as an Executive Producer. She moved steadily up the ranks, serving as Creative Services Director, Executive News Director, and Station Manager.

“While Portland will always hold a special place in my heart, I am thrilled to be leading the team at WALA FOX 10," said Hanson. "This is an exciting time to be in local broadcasting and I can't wait to get started.”

BTW- Didn’t Meredith say they were under a hiring freeze?
