Longtime Boston Anchor Phil Lipof, who crossed the street WCVB to the NBC O&O start up news operation is leaving the station.

It seems that the station is not renewing his contract.

This is the internal email that went out to the staff and was obtained by FTVLive:

Team:

In an effort to keep our newsroom and other departments informed, I want to share with you news that NBC10 anchor Phil Lipof will not be continuing with the station. We wish Phil well in all his future endeavors and thank him for his contributions.

Below is a note Phil asked me to share with all of you.

Saying goodbye is never easy but during a pandemic, when so many of you are working from home, it is especially difficult.

I hope this email finds you healthy and well. I can say with certainty, I will miss working with you. Comprehensive coverage, great storytelling, hard work and good friendships, that is how I will remember my time here at NBC 10. Signing on to help build an O&O from scratch is one of the most exciting things I’ve done in my career, so far.

If I could thank each and every one of you, I would. Instead, as we stay socially distant, I will just say this... Thank you for shooting, editing, receiving, writing, producing, directing, assigning, reporting, anchoring, managing, programming, selling, fixing and trouble shooting, every day, for the last four years! Consider this note, 3,000 “Thank You” points for everyone!

I hope you and your families stay healthy through this Covid crisis.

I have to move on now - but I hope we can stay in touch.

Phil
