You Would Expect Better

It’s been about two weeks since the CBS Broadcast Center was closed because of someone testing positive for COVID-19.

And even now WCBS is still having trouble getting newscasts on the air.

“Inside Edition” is on in place of the Noon News.

When Governor Andrew Cuomo gives his news conferences each morning, the station just takes it live. There is no Anchor intro the presser or wrapping it up.

Sources tell FTVLive that those special reports are punched in and out through the Master Control hub in Denver.

Weather talent is presenting information by standing next to the Mobile Weather Lab sans any maps or graphics.

In my time in TV news, I have dealt with complete power outages just 50 minutes before air. Or, the control room switcher dying 15 minutes before the newscast. We still got a newscast on the air some way, somehow.

How does the flagship station of the CBS Television Network continue to have this amount of difficulty functioning almost two weeks later?

It seems that it should be better than this.

Just saying….
