KTTV Morning Anchor Tony McEwing has been missing from the air and he took to social media to explain why?

McEwing says he woke up one morning and right side of his face was partially paralyzed.

He has Bell's palsy, which paralyzes your face and can last from a number of weeks to months.

McEwing says his case seems to be mild and he is already starting to see improvements.

But right now, he’s off the air while going through recovery.

This is his post to IG:

Good morning and happy Friday! Many of you have noticed that I haven't been on the air for the last couple of weeks and have been wondering where I've been. Just over two weeks ago, I went to bed and when I woke up, the right side of my face was partially paralyzed. No warning. Nothing. I was diagnosed later that day with a condition called Bell's palsy. My case is considered relatively mild but since I need ALL of my face to do my job properly, going on the air is not possible right now. 😏Bell's palsy affects about 40,000 people in this country every year, so it's not that common. Still, many of you probably know someone who has had it. It strikes all ages and genders suddenly and without a hint that it's going to happen. The silver lining here is that the condition is typically temporary and the overwhelming majority of people recover fully. In fact, I've already started to see signs of recovery. It just takes time. In the meantime, I'm staying positive and prayerful. I'm very thankful to my colleagues for their prayers and well wishes. And to all of our viewers, thank you so much for all of your support and love over the years. I'm sending that love right back to you! I really miss spending time with you in the mornings and can't wait to get back!!!
