Back in November, FTVLive told you that cops had clamped the cuffs on WEVV (Evansville) Reporter Veronica DeKett, charging her with two counts of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

The station parted ways with the Reporter and she now has pleaded guilty to driving drunk and has been sentenced to a year in alcohol probation services.

DeKett, 28, was facing a felony charge because she had a prior conviction in New Jersey, but Vanderburgh Superior Court Judge Robert Pigman entered judgment as a Class A misdemeanor at a hearing Thursday afternoon.

She was sentenced immediately after entering her plea upon the agreement of both parties. Her license was also suspended for 90 days as part of the sentence. It will be reinstated provided she remains in treatment.

DeKett was charged with a Level 6 felony, which would've required a minimum jail sentence of six months and a maximum of two and a half years. She could've been handed up to a $10,000 fine, and her license could've been revoked for two years.

"The efforts you've made to date have been sincere," Pigman told Dekett, who said she's been sober for three months.

"If you screw this up, incarceration is our next step," Pigman warned.

Shortly after the case was opened, DeKett was accused of violating the conditions of her bond. She admitted to drinking after testing positive for alcohol, according to court records.

Her probation officer recommended two days of jail time, which were to be stayed if she didn't break the rules again.
