They Made Him an Offer He Could Refuse
/Younger and Cheaper seems to be the best way to describe the TV news business today.
Back in 2003, meteorologist Scott Zedeker joined WINK in Ft. Myers, coming from KEYT in Santa Barbara.
After 17 years at the station, Zedeker says the station made him an offer that he COULD refuse.
They wanted to give him a 30% pay cut and change his shift. The reason? Seems that he was not researching well and the station lowballed him right out the door.
His bio page are gone, social media scrubbed. He says the station did little or no promotion involving him.
This has become a trend in this Industry. It used to be that experience was an asset, but that no longer seems to be the case. You get old, you make too much money and they send you on your way and look for someone both younger and cheaper.
Zedeker took to social media to tell his story and talk about his frustration.
