Spectrum is making cuts in what they are calling a “reorganization.”

Sources tell FTVLive that the Spectrum News News Director and Assistant News Director at their Rochester, NY outlet were cut, along with many Photographers.

“Today, Spectrum Networks announced a series of operational changes that will enable its news networks in Upstate New York to expand on their award-winning local news programming by adding more community-based stories — while expanding our statewide coverage — regarding the most important issues facing New Yorkers in this ever-challenging environment,” spokeswoman Maureen Huff said in a prepared statement.

One of the ways the company will “expand on their award-winning local news programming” is by cutting its staff. You know the old expand by cutting.

No word on how many cuts will happen, but in Albany, NY Spectrum says it will be a handful. So maybe five?

Sources tell FTVLive that along with Albany and Rochester, the newsroom in Buffalo was also targeted with cuts.

“Our goal is to transition employees into open positions where feasible. We are working as hard as we can to protect as many positions as possible,” said Huff.

No word if Spectrum is planning more “expansin” in other markets.
