20 Open Jobs at One Station
/In today’s TV world, stations are trying very hard to do more with fewer people as it has become all about the bottom line.
So, you might think that a station in a mid-market that is down 20 people might be stretched a bit thin.
Sources at Hearst’s KOAT in Albuquerque say that is exactly the case.
The station has been bleeding staff and insiders say that management has been very slow to fill the jobs.
One insider claims that the people that are being hired are inexperienced and likely cheap. “ We had one candidate in for a producer who didn’t know what a vo/sot was,” said one station insider.
A search of the Hearst job postings shows that 20 jobs are now open at KOAT and many of those jobs are in news.
Management often drags their feet in filling jobs because it saves money and makes the manager’s bottom line look better. It says nothing about the burnout that current staffers deal with trying to cover those open jobs.
Below are some of the jobs that are open and you can see the full list here.
