The Ed Show...
/The Boston Globe has run a rather interesting story about WHDH (Boston) & WSVN (Miami) owner Ed Ansin.
The 83-year-old Ansin indicates that he has no plans to retire from TV news anytime soon. Boston station WHDH ended its affiliation relationship with NBC a little over 3 years ago and has been independent ever since.
WHDH remains a fierce local news competitor. It’s not No. 1 among the major Boston stations — that distinction belongs to WCVB, but it is far from bouncing around in last place. That title goes to WBTS, the station NBC launched after breaking up with Ansin.
There are rumblings of Ansin and company are exploring swiping the Fox affiliation away from Cox Media Group station WFXT when it's set to expire.
2020 could be an interesting year.
You can read the story here and full disclosure, I worked for Ed Ansin at WSVN in Miami and have never seen or talked to the man in my life.
But, he is a big supporter of TV news. He gives you the money and the resources to cover the news and then he stands back it lets it happen. This my friends is a good owner.
