The 3rd Best Person on our list owns her own media company, but also works for Hearst Television, doing the weekly syndicated show “Matter of Fact with Soledad O'Brien.”

If you work in TV news, there is a good chance that Soledad O’Brien is following you on Twitter. She is very active on the platform and is not afraid to tell it like it is.

She is also not afraid to call out Fox News or her former employer CNN.

O’Brien is a breath of fresh air and she will tell you that owning your own company frees you up a bit to be more direct on social media.

But, no matter if she is calling out people on the right or the left, she still cares about journalism and hates when people give the industry a bad name.

O’Brien has worked at NBC, worked in cable news and now does a show that airs on local Hearst stations. So, she is someone that speaks from experience and does not like when people drop the ball of stories.

O’Brien owns and runs Starfish Media, but she would make an awesome news executive at a cable news network, or a great GM at a TV station.

We have always been a big fan of her work, but our respect for her went way up in 2019.

And that is what lands her on our Best list for last year.
