It’s a gimmick for sure…

360 cameras are getting cheaper and less expensive. FTVLive owns two 360 cameras and the second one is so much better then the first one we bought 4 years ago.

Now, WKMG in Orlando is doing an online newscast that is shot with a 360 camera.

“News 6/360,” lets viewers look around the studio while Anchor Ginger Gadsden and digital Reporter Brianna Volz, share stories in a weekly newscast.

While at first it might be cool, the same studio week after week will be boring.

It would be much cooler if they did the newscast on location. A 360 show from Main Street, USA in Disney World would be cool. Or how about the top of Orlando’s giant ferris wheel?

If you’re just doing one show a week, this should be the way it is done.

That’s my advice and unlike a TV consultant, it did not cost you thousands of dollars.
