Back in January of this year, FTVLive told you that KTVI (St. Louis) Anchor Kevin Steincross was reading a story on the station’s morning news show, when he said an upcoming tribute to the civil rights icon at St. Louis University would honor “Martin Luther coon Jr.”

Steincross later apologized for his remark and the station put him on “indefinite leave.”

Well, here we are 9 months later and KTVI says Steincross is no longer with the station.

General manager Kurt Krueger confirmed last week that Steincross and the station parted ways "by mutual agreement."

"He is no longer at the station," Krueger said. Saying it was a personnel matter, he declined to provide further information.

Steincross could not be reached for comment.

FTVLive posted a video of Steincross’s apology and it has been viewed almost 30,000 times.
