Hmmmmm.... Isn't That Interesting

A couple of days ago, FTVLive told you that George Davilas the News Director at Tegna’s KPNX in Phoenix had tacked his name onto a number of KPNX’s Emmy entries and called himself a “Producer.”

A couple of interesting notes about this story.

First, Davilas is a member of the of the Rocky Mountain Emmy Board of governors. It should also be pointed out that the Emmy’s recently changed the rules, in which News Directors and EP’s are not eligible for an Emmy.

Now, since Davilas is on the board, you would think that he knew about the new rule and maybe that is why he is now listed as “Producer” and not News Director?

Also, he was named on a number of station entries in 2018, when News Directors were still eligible to win an Emmy. Guess what his title was then?

It appears to some in his newsroom, that Davilas is playing a bit loose with the rules to get his name on the Emmy entries.

If you ask us, this is just another example as to way you should not waste you time or money sending trying to win something that thousands upon thousands of people win each year.

But hey, that’s just our opinion…
