New News Director Named in The Burgh
/On Monday, FTVLive was the FIRST to tell you that WPXI (Pittsburgh) News Director Suzanne Nadell was headed back to Atlanta to become the News Director at WSB.
Nadell is taking over for Misti Turnbull is being bumped up the corporate ladder at Cox and will be leaving her ND job.
One thing you have to say about Cox, it doesn’t take them long to fill open ND jobs.
Before Nadell packs her suitcase, WPXI has already named her replacement in the Burgh.
WPXI Managing Editor Scott Trabandt is getting the bump up to the big chair.
FTVLive has obtained the internal memo sent to the staff at WPXI from GM Kevin Hayes:

Subject: WPXI Newsroom Announcement
I’m excited to announce two big changes to the WPXI-TV Newsroom. News Director Suzanne Nadell will be leaving WPXI and joining our sister-station, WSB-TV in Atlanta, as News Director.
Managing Editor Scott Trabandt has been promoted to News Director at WPXI.
Over the past three years as Managing Editor, Scott helped steer Channel 11’s Regional Edward R. Murrow award-winning coverage of the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting, Clergy Sex Abuse in Pennsylvania, the 2016 and 2018 Elections, the Olympics in Rio De Janeiro and PyeongChang, and back-to-back Stanley Cup victories by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
He's a proven leader with a history of success and has gained a wealth of knowledge and perspective during his time here.
Scott previously worked at WRC-TV in Washington, DC as Executive Producer. He first worked for COX Media Group at WSOC-TV in Charlotte, and got his start producing at WPDE-TV in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Suzanne is an experienced leader who has worked at four COX stations, two of them as News Director. She has done a tremendous job leading WPXI to levels we have not seen in years, and we’re thrilled that she has an opportunity to run the largest newsroom in our company.
Please join me in congratulating both Scott and Suzanne.
