Hearst Station Goes Silent

As nasty weather made its way through the Ft. Smith-Fayetteville, AR. market, Hearst’s KHBS/KHOG was on the air keeping viewers informed.

But then the station took a lightning strike from Mother Nature and while you could still watch the station, you could not hear them. A lower third told viewers the station had lost audio.

The station stayed on the air and mimed the weather until engineers figured out a way to patch a cell phone into the feed to the transmitters to bring audio back.

It was good work under tough circumstances by all involved.
