FTVLive was the FIRST to tell you that longtime WPXI (Pittsburgh) Weather Anchor Kevin Benson was arrested for drunk driving. Again, it was the FTVLive Patrons that learned the news first.

The Cox station did not report on their Anchor’s arrest and when contacted News Director Scott Trabandt said, “All I can say is that as part of station policy we don’t comment publicly on personnel matters.”

Benson had a blood alcohol content nearly four times the legal limit and had an inactive cocaine metabolite in his blood, according to a criminal complaint.

“All I can tell you is I’ve been on radio and TV for 40 years and I’ve been with [WPXI] since 1987; I made a mistake and I’m hoping they’ll be understanding,” Benson said after his arrest.

While the station has not said anything, Benson’s bio has been quietly scrubbed from the station’s website and he has not commented on Twitter since October.

WPXI is not showing a bit on transparency, but we are guessing that Benson has been bounced from the Burgh station.

I wonder how WPXI would have handled the Mayor being arrested?

The hypocrisy of it all.
