Down the Slippery Slope

If you read FTVLive, then it is likely that you know my feelings about Facebook.

The social media site has been called out time and time again for shady practices and not protecting their users personal information.

It seems like Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is called to testify on Capitol Hill so much, he should rent and apartment there.

And while Facebook is under the gun for their shady practices, they seem to be getting much of the media in their back pocket.

It came out that Facebook is rolling out Facebook News, a dedicated space showcasing “quality journalism” from news outlets, curated by a team of human Facebook employees.

Facebook said that they would be paying media outlets millions of dollars to showcase their work and help drive traffic to the their sites.

Of course, many of these same media companies that will be paid by Facebook are the same people that have been covering Facebook’s dealings in the past.

You have to wonder how the media will cover Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg in the future, you know, since now he is paying them millions of dollars.

I’m sorry, but this comes off as hush money to me and it cast the media and the companies that partake in Facebook News in a very bad light.

Spin it how you want, this comes off as a deal to keep the negative coverage out of sight.
