US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was in Nashville on Friday and gave a little bit of time to the local stations to do interviews.

We’re guessing that Pompeo and his people figured the local newsies would go easy on him.

But, he sat down with WSMV Reporter Nancy Amons, who was given just a few minutes to interview him.

She asked Pompeo if he met with Rudy Giuliani when the two traveled to Warsaw back in February.

Pompeo refused to answer the question and you could see that he was annoyed that Amons even asked it.

But, while he refused the answer, Amons continued to ask the same question over and over.

In fact, watching her hold his feet to the fire, showed that a local Reporter can outshine those Journalists inside the beltway.

Even former CBS Anchor Dan Rather was impressed with Amons and her questioning of the Secretary of State.

Maybe Meredith can move into this decade and start allowing their videos to be embedded?

We won’t hold our breath.
