When you pitch for a job in TV news, the biggest question you may have… how much money will I be paid?

People wonder if they should have and agent or not? Here is why I say you should.

FTVLive has obtained the spread sheets for the Spectrum News outlets and we want to share them with you.

Let’s look at Spectrum News Ohio and you can see the position and how much they have budgeted for the position? They post a min, a mid and a max for the position.

The sheet shows who they hired and for what salary. Almost every hire, left at least $5,000 a year on the table. Over a 3 year contract that is $15,000.

In fact, looking at Ohio, only the News Director got the max. In fact Karl Turner’s job was budgeted for $104,500 and he got $141,750.

Many agents know what the top end is and they are able to get you that money. That is why using an agent is a good investment.

If you are looking for an Agent, check out the ads here on FTVLive. We only let agents that we believe in place on ad on this site and we have turned down ad dollars from agents that we don’t believe are worthy of being on FTVLive.

We are not saying you must have an agent and if you decide not to, that’s fine. But looking at this chart, you will see that almost everyone hired left a lot of money on the table.
