Change in the Weather
/Back in mid-April, FTVLive told you that Nexstar owned WIAT (Birmingham) had parted ways with Chief meteorologist Mark Prater and never said why?
At the time of Prather's departure, WIAT's News Director Rob Martin declined to comment on the circumstances surrounding Prater's departure. He added that there was no immediate word as to who would replace Prater as chief meteorologist, Martin said.
Well, less than a month later, the station now has a plan.
The station announced that Ashley Gann has been named Chief Meteorologist. She will assume her new beginning May 28, 2018.
She comes from WAKA the CBS affiliate in Montgomery.
Not everyone is happy to see Gann takeover Prater's old gig.
As for Gann, News Director Martin had this to say in the station's announcement:
“Forecasting the weather is Ashley’s passion. She is extremely committed to providing the most reliable forecast and keeping our viewers safe during severe weather,” says Rob Martin, CBS 42 News Director. “She will stay until the last storm leaves our coverage area.”
Or, until she fired and gone from the station immediately, you know....like the last guy.
