Should Anchors and Reporters Talk About This?
/There is an old saying that you don't talk about politics and religion, but it seems that the times have changed.
Nowadays it seems everyone is talking/arguing about politics and at least one Columbia, SC Anchor is talking about religion. Or, at least her religion.
WIS Anchor Mary King posted this to her station branded social media:
Now, back in the day (I feel old when I say that) we were told that TV news people were supposed to be publicly unbiased in all arenas when they're representing the station and that include your personal religious expressions.
The station and the anchors are there to serve all people right? And not isolate or exclude those who's religious beliefs aren't Christian, or whichever religion the TV person is promoting or talking about?
Is this now acceptable? Do you think it's OK?
I'm not saying there is a right or wrong answer here, I just want to see what the feedback is inside TV newsrooms?
I'm going to try opening up the comments and let people weigh in. Please stay on topic and stay civil, or the comments are gone.
