Getting Out of the Business
/Longtime Duluth Sports Anchor Zach Schneider is leaving KBJR and the TV business altogether.
Schneider has been giving the sports news in his hometown for a decade but is now leaving to become a financial advisor in the Duluth office of Liberty Wealth Management.
Schneider started at KBJR in 2007 as an intern and news reporter and eventually moved to sports anchor.
Schneider grew up in Duluth, attended Marshall School and then the College of Saint Scholastica where he was a goalie for the men's soccer team.
"To do what I've done and where I've done it, I can't consider myself anything other than incredibly blessed. My passion for sports was born right here in the Northland, so the chance to continue that into my professional life has been a dream come true,'' Schneider said in a statement. "The stories we've told and the people I've met these last 10 years have truly enriched my life, and my only hope is our viewers got as much or more out of it than I did."
"We are proud of Zach's work with KBJR 6 over the last decade and appreciate his dedication to covering sports. Zach is a hometown guy with a burning passion for sports journalism," said Kevin Jacobsen, KBJR news director. "That is something he gets to take with him, leaving some big shoes to fill."
