Anchor That Sued Sinclair Has Died

Former longtime WGME (Portland, ME) Anchor Doug Rafferty has died.

Rafferty spent 21 years at this station, beginning in the early 90s. In 2006 he suffered the stroke during a broadcast and he latter sued WGME owner Sinclair, claiming they discriminated against him after he suffered the stroke by removing him from his job and cutting his pay.

His salary was cut from $93,000 to $45,000 a year by Sinclair.

The two sides settled the case and terms of the deal were never disclosed.

WGME spoke to his wife, Bev and she said that she and Doug had just arrived in Hawaii to visit their daughter. He passed eight hours later.

The cause of death is not yet determined.

Rafferty was 66 years old.
