Boston GM is Calling it Quits

WFTX (Boston) GM Tom Raponi has announced his retirement from the Cox station at the end of the year.

Raponi has been with Cox for 22 years and has been the General Manager of WFXT since October 2014.

“Tom has enjoyed an impressive decades-long broadcast career, and he has been a tireless force in the communities where he has served,” said CMG Executive VP Jane Williams. “All of our CMG broadcast professionals have benefitted from Tom’s passion for the business. He is leaving a strong legacy, and we will miss him greatly.”

Raponi began his career with Cox in January of 1996 as General Sales Manager of KTVU and was promoted to VP and GM of KICU in 2002 while also holding the position of Director of sales for both stations.

Prior to his current position, Raponi was the VP and General Manager of KTVU and KICU San Francisco from May 2011 through October 2014.

You may remember that Cox and Fox sapped stations in Boston and San Francisco. Raponi moved to Boston from KTVU when the stations swapped. 

“I have been blessed to have spent the last 22 years of my career working for KTVU and KICU in San Francisco and WFXT in Boston,” said Raponi. “I am thankful that Cox made a personal investment in me to help me develop my leadership skills, and afforded me the opportunity to work with so many talented broadcast professionals. The company’s executive leadership team and my colleagues have taught me the value of caring for our employees and that our mantra of ‘we compete with our products, and win with our people’ is not a slogan. It is the pedigree of our company.”
