This guy went from news to PR and is now headed back to news.

Longtime Albany, NY Anchor Jerry Gretzinger is getting back in the game.

The Times Union says that Gretzinger who was on WRGB for nearly a decade before taking jobs in public relations, is returning to television, and next month will co-anchor the 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. broadcasts for WNYT.

Gretzinger worked as a reporter and news anchor for WRGB from 2002 until 2014, when he left to become the $155,000-a-year spokesman for SUNY Polytechnic Institute.

In late 2016, Gretzinger was among several high-profile officials to leave that organization following the arrest and indictment of the school's founding president, Alain Kaloyeros, on state and federal corruption charges.

Gretzinger is not accused of any wrongdoing. Like other high-ranking executives at SUNY Poly, he was paid through the Research Foundation for SUNY, an independent entity that controls grant money given to SUNY researchers.

"The last few years have certainly been an adventure. They've made me a little grayer and a lot wiser and I couldn't be happier with where they have now led me," said Gretziner, in a post to social media announcing his return to television journalism.

In that post, he said that starting Sept. 11, he will be hosting a 4 p.m. news program with Benita Zahn, and will co-anchor the 5:30 broadcast with Elaine Houston.
