Leaving Sports For News

Adam Kuperstein works at NBC O&O WTVJ as both a News Anchor and a Sports Anchor.

Now, he's leaving the station and the sports gig behind.

Kuperstein is leaving SoFlo and headed to the Big Apple as the weekend evening news anchor at WNBC.

“As much as I love sports, I really wanted to focus exclusively on News,” Kuperstein said. “I've been really lucky to do both in Miami, but this is an amazing career opportunity in the #1 market.”

Besides anchoring the New York NBC station’s weekend newscast, he will also be a reporter and fill-in anchor on weekdays.

Kuperstein was a significant media presence in South Florida since joining NBC 6 in July 2005. After six years as a sports and news anchor, Kuperstein transitioned to news full time, co-anchoring newscasts at 5 p.m. 6 p.m., and 11 p.m. alongside Jackie Nespral.

He eventually discontinued news anchor duties on those three newscasts and returned to sports anchoring in April 2015, while adding the news anchor co-host job on the 5:30 p.m. show.

Before coming to WTVJ, Kuperstein worked at the NBC affiliate in Zanesville, Ohio and the Fox affiliate in Toledo.
