Bounced Tegna EP to Resurface Down the Road

Back in December, FTVLive FIRST told you that Tegna owned WTSP was laying off a number of staffers, including Executive Producer Carolyn Dolcimascolo.

Well, it didn't take Dolcimascolo long to find a new gig. She'll be heading down I-75 to Ft. Myers to work at WINK News.

Here is the internal email sent out to the WINK staff from News Director Tom Doerr and obtained by FTVLive:

Subject: Managing Editor Announcement

I am pleased to announce that Carolyn Dolcimascolo will be joining us as a Managing Editor.  She will start with us on February 20th.

We are truly fortunate to have someone of Carolyn’s abilities join us at WINK. Carolyn has worked in major markets her entire career. For the past 10 years, Carolyn has been the Managing Editor at WTSP. She started as a producer at WFLA in Tampa, and then moved on to become the Executive Producer of Special Projects at WTTG in Washington, D.C.  After Washington, Carolyn was the EP of Special Projects at Dallas CBS O&O KTVT, before moving to Tampa.
So what will Carolyn do as Managing Editor? Simply put, Carolyn will work closely with reporters on story development and storytelling. Carolyn has the ability to combine the qualities of a master storyteller with the practical focus of a story editor. She will also suggest ideas for stories and see them through from beginning to end. During special events and breaking news, Carolyn will focus on helping develop and produce comprehensive and on-going coverage. Carolyn is a resource and idea person who can help our reporters bring content and storytelling up to a high level of excellence.
Full disclosure: Carolyn and I worked together in Dallas. My description of Carolyn: An intelligent and passionate journalist with an eye for a good story and an expert at developing enterprise stories. She is also organized and manages time extremely well. Reporters will love working with her and we can all learn from her, too. While working together, I always prayed Carolyn would be in the building when a big story broke. On a personal note, Carolyn is a warm and caring individual.  She great with people and steady as a rock when stuff hits the fan. She is a joy to work with.

Carolyn attended the University of South Florida and is a native of the Tampa area. She is also mom to two grown children Zoey and Cody. BTW, Carolyn’s name is pronounced Dole-Chay-Mas-Co-Low.
