Out the Door in NoCal
/Mike Mangas has been doing the news for 40 years at KRCR (Redding-Chico).
Sinclair recently took over the station and to no one's surprise, this internal memo went out to te staff:
From: Jennifer Scarborough
Date: November 1, 2017
To: "All Staff (California)"
Subject: Mike Mangas
All;
After 40 years as the “soul” of KRCR-TV, Mike Mangas will be leaving us for a job in communications at Mercy Medical Center (Dignity Health.)
It is difficult to imagine KRCR without Mike sitting at that desk, telling stories in his unique and personal way. But his legacy lives on in the journalists in our newsroom he has influenced so deeply (including me.) We will continue to cover our community with the care, dignity, and heart that Mike demonstrated in every one of his stories.
In his resignationletter Mike writes, “It would be impossible to put into words what this TV station has meant to me for more than 40 years.” Mike, it is equally impossible to put into words what you have meant to this TV station, your co-workers, your friends, and the entire Northstate for the past 40 years. Thank you for all you have done, all you have been, and all you have given to those around you.
Mike’s last day on air as an anchor will be November 17th. We are working on plans for a send-off befitting someone who has meant so much.
