When WBZ in Boston named their new News Director a year and a half ago, he was described by the station GM as a, “solid journalist with a proven track record of outstanding news coverage and compelling storytelling”
Today he was fired.
WBZ, which has long struggled in the ratings has parted ways with ND Gary LaPlante. The station goes through News Director's like Donald Trump goes through cans of spray on tan.
When WBZ GM Mark Lund hired LaPlante back in August of 2014, from across the street at WFXT, he said, "He has been instrumental in the development of differentiated content as well as ratings growth in his previous news leadership roles, and I am confident he will have even greater success working with our outstanding WBZ-TV News team"
Obviously that didn't work out like it was planned.
The station has bumped up WBZ Deuce Johnny Green in the interim.
