Back in 2005, NBC's Brian Williams was sitting down with the late Tim Russert and talking about his helicopter incident in Iraq.

In this tale, Williams said he watched the RPG pierce the tale of the chopper in front of his. But, then he claims the pilot of his chopper — “our captain” — was shot “right through the earlobe.”

“The captain of Williams’s helicopter Chris Simeone, has stepped forward and said he was neither struck by enemy fire nor received a Purple Heart. ‘I do not have a Purple Heart, and my ears are just fine,’ Simeone said.

Allan Kelly, an Army pilot also aboard Williams’s helicopter said the same thing: that their chopper did not come under enemy fire.
