CNN Subtracts 59 School Shootings from Report

After Tuesday's shooting at an Oregon high school, CNN and other media outlets reported that there have been 74 school shootings in the past 18 months.

That's the time period since the December 2012 massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, where 20 children and six adults were shot to death.

On their website, CNN said that they decided to take a closer look at that number. Maybe, just maybe, they should check the facts before the first report. I know, it's a novel idea.

Anyway, CNN has now dropped the number from 74 to 15.

The network says that the 74 number came from a group called Everytown for Gun Safety, an umbrella group started by former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a passionate and public advocate of gun control.

But those shootings weren't all real because they included school shootings involving a firearm discharged inside or on school grounds, including assaults, homicides, suicides and accidental shootings.

So CNN dropped the number from 74 to 15.

In other words, someone with ties to the gun industry called up CNN and the network folded like a lawn chair.

Just saying....
