Anchors Away at Jacksonville Station

FTVLive FIRST told you on Friday that main Anchors at Cox owned  WTEV/WAWS Action News Jacksonville are being informed that their contracts are not being renewed she they come up.

Sources tell FTVLive that the station is blowing up the entire man in Anchor team. Word is that Mark Spain, Paige Kelton and Tera Barz are just some of the Anchors that have been informed that they will be losing their anchor gigs as their contracts come up.

Sources tell FTVLive that other Anchors at the station have also been informed that they will be off the desk when their window opens up. The station is giving no reason for the luge and why they are basically going to start over from scratch. 

"Out of respect for our employees, we don't publicly discuss personnel matters," News Director Bob Longo told FTVLive.

FTVLive hears that the station wants most of the changes to happen by fall. The station has basically pulled all mention of the Anchors out of promos currently running on air. Promos touting the station's work in the just completed May book so no pictures of talent and makes no mention of anchors.

Word is that corporate suits from Cox were seen in the station in the past few weeks, a number of close door meetings took place.

Newsroom sources tell FTVLive that morale has already sunk to very low levels. "Anchors are going on the air knowing that they are losing in jobs in stye coming weeks," said one newsroom staffer to FTVLive. 

The station aired promos in May promising to bring viewers "every story" with "every detail" but refuses to talk about the details of a massive Anchor shake up like the station has never seen before.
