WPLG reporter Ross Palombo and a photographer Shane Walker had a bit of a scare last night while getting ready to go live on Local 10 News at 11. They had set up their live shot right in front of the gated house, on a public street, of a homeowner who had allegedly failed to pay his taxes on time and who became very agitated when he saw the TV crew in front of his house.

It was all caught on camera as the man walked out and threatened Palombo and Walker

Homeowner: I’m gonna ask you to take the camera off me once.
Palombo: Are you threatening me?
Homeowner: I am promising you, that I will rip that thing off your shoulder so quick and beat you down with it.

According to the arrest report Louis Paolino pointed a knife at photojournalist Shane Walker and “threatened to cut his throat”. On camera Paolino can be seen damaging equipment with the knife – hitting the spot lights while they were still powered (!) and cutting the camera cables.

Police made no arrests at the time of the incident but Paolino arrived with his lawyer this yesterday morning at Fort Lauderdale Police Department to turn himself in. He taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault, criminal mischief and grand theft. Damage was estimated to be in excess of $1,400

Here's the story that aired on WPLG's newscast:
