Cleveland Anchor Leaving to spend more time blah blah

Cleveland Anchor Leaving to spend more time blah blah

Just once, we would like to see somebody leave TV news to do anything but spend more time with their family.

WJW (Cleveland) Anchor Wilma Smith is leaving the station after 35 years. She says that she is leaving on her own terms. When you have been at the station that long, you should go out on your own terms.

But you have to wonder if she really is leaving on own?

CNN Brings Porn Star on to Trash Steubenville

CNN Brings Porn Star on to Trash Steubenville

Following the worst reporting ever, CNN's Piers Morgan was doing some damage control for the network. Morgan had on CNN Reporter Poppy Harlow to try and give her a chance to save her reputation, which sunk quicker than Matt Lauer's in the matter of one live report.

But, Morgan's show wasn't going to pass up the chance to pile on the city of Steubenville some more.

In an "exclusive" interview, Piers talked to a Porn Star that was raped in the only city where people are raped....Steubenville, Ohio.

Sinclair Teams Up with Right Wing Website

Sinclair Teams Up with Right Wing Website

It's a match made in Heaven... or at least on the Internet.

Sinclair has made a deal with the right wing website Newsmax to put the later's headlines on their station's website.

Broadcasting and Cable writes that it seems like a logical pairing philosophically. On Election Day eve, Sinclair aired a special in key battleground markets that “featured some of the most partisan criticisms of President Barack Obama, and spent relatively little time examining Republican nominee Mitt Romney,” said the popular (and left leaning) TalkingPointsMemo.

Jacksonville Reporter Leaves for Eugene

amanda-zitzman.jpg

Sometimes people want to get as far away from FTVLive as possible.

Traffic Reporter Amanda Zitzman works here in FTVLive's backyard at WTLV/WJXX.

But she's leaving J-Ville and taking a news anchor job at KVAL in Eugene, OR.

Zitzman has been here in Jax since 2010, starting out doing traffic reports, but she has been doing some news anchoring. She was anchoring the station Saturday morning newscasts and filling in on some other shows.

But it looks like she wanted to dump traffic and move to news anchoring full time. At KVAL that's what she'll be doing.

She starts next month as the morning and noon anchor.

EXCLUSIVE: Scripps Stations make Costly Decision

EXCLUSIVE: Scripps Stations make Costly Decision

Did Scripps Stations make a very costly decision when they tried to reinvent the Wheel?

Last year, EW Scripps, owner of 19 TV stations made the bold (some say foolish) decision not to renew "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy" in favor of programming it owns and controls, and could possibly syndicate.

The move saved millions of dollars in license fees, but has been disastrous for the ratings of its local news departments, which depended on "Wheel" and "Jeopardy" for lead ins and lead outs. Now we've learned the experiment might be coming to an abrupt end.

How Local News Saved a Miami Station

How Local News Saved a Miami Station

Twenty five years ago, WSVN (Ch. 7 - Miami) Station owner Ed Ansin found himself shut out of network television and scrambling to find a way for his Channel 7 station to hold an audience. He turned to an unlikely product: local news.

At the time, local newscasts were seen as fairly staid — heavy on anchors reading news, and stories on government proceedings. But Ansin’s WSVN had little left to offer after losing its affiliate contract with NBC, then the leader in prime time. Even worse: the station had no hope of jumping ship to ABC or CBS after losing its NBC ties on Jan. 1, 1989.

It had signed on with Fox, but the new player on the national television scene was only offering two hours of prime-time programming a week.

“We had to make some hard decisions,’’ Ansin, 76, said from his wood-paneled office at WSVN’s bay front offices in North Bay Village. “We really had few options.”

The Worst Reporting Ever by a Network..... Ever

The Worst Reporting Ever by a Network..... Ever

Sure....  the days of reporting the story objectively are long over, but this Weekend CNN did something more shocking.

A Steubenville Judge found two Teenage boys guilty of raping a 16 year old girl, plus taking nude pictures of her and posting them to the Internet.

A horrendous crime for sure. But because the boys were teenagers, they will only spend a year or two in jail. If that was your sister or daughter that was raped, you might feel that the sentence surely didn't fit the crime.

But, watching CNN Reporter Poppy Harlow, you would think that these poor poor boys that just had a little bit of fun raping that girl have had their lives ruined by this stupid girl that got raped.

Huntsville Newscast High Jacked

Huntsville Newscast High Jacked

There is nothing and I mean NOTHING more that we hate than when a newscast is stopped for a wedding proposal.

Why should anyone else give a crap that the news anchor's boyfriend wants to marry her. Propose on your own time...not the viewers.

A newscast was high jacked again this past weekend in Huntsville.

WZDX Weekend anchor Jillian Pavlica was surprised with a ring from her boyfriend Vince.
