​WKMG Traffic reporter Jessica Sanchez has announced that she is locked in a battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

“In the nine years I’ve been in Central Florida, the community and the people have become my home, my family, and I’m feeling that more than ever,” Sanchez said. “The thoughts, prayers and support I have received so far have been amazing!  While this is tough news to take, I plan to turn it into an experience from which I can learn, grow and share.”

​Friday, FTVLive told you about the ABC Staffer that was indicted for helping Hackers gain entry into the Tribune computer system.

Matthew Keys was working at Tribune owned KTXL in Sacramento, when he was fired from his job.​

After his firing, the Justice Department says Keys gained access to an Anonymous chat room and proceeded to provide the group with passwords to Tribune's computer system.

Study Shows Local TV News doing Less News

​The Pew Research Center’s latest annual "State Of The News Mediareport" is not painting a very good picture.  

The study shows that providers across all platforms became “more undermanned and unprepared to uncover stories, dig deep into emerging ones or to question information put into [their] hands,” Pew’s Project for Excellence In Journalism finds. The shortcomings stood out during the election when “campaign reporters were acting primarily as megaphones, rather than as investigators, of the assertions put forward by the candidates and other political partisans.”

LA Station Names new Managing Editor

Fox-owned KTTV Los Angeles (DMA 2) has hired Ramona Schindelheim to be managing editor of the station’s news department. She begins on March 25.

This will be Schindelheim’s second stint at KTTV, she was a producer there from 1989 to 1994. Most recently, she was executive producer of Business Day at CNBC. Prior to that she was EP of CNBC’s The Call, Power Lunch and Street Signs.

Her resume also includes senior producer at NBC’s The Jane Pauley Show, Business Editor at ABC News, Producer of CNBC’s Power Lunch, producer of WNBC New York’s Live at Five and a sitcom writer at Warner Bros.
