TV Anchors being stalked seems to be much more in the news the past few months. Now comes word that is why one Left Coast Anchor left the business.

Anna Chavez was a very popular and engaging news anchor who spent 21 years in the business, (mostly in SF at KGO-TV and KPIX). 

Suddenly, out of the blue, she announced she was quitting and said she wanted to pursue another career. Her co-workers were stunned. How could such a talented newswoman leave an industry she excelled in and was widely admired and respected.

From the 70's through the 90's THE sports guy in Denver television was Ron Zappolo.​ The guy knew everybody involved in sports in the Mile High City.

After over two decades in sports, Zappolo made that rare leap made by only a few and went to anchoring news. In 2000 he became the first major news broadcasting hire for Fox's KDVR-31, sharing main anchor duties with the recently departed Libby Weaver.

In just over a month his contract with KDVR ​will end and at 61 years old, Zappolo will retire? 

Nope!​

WSET Weatherman Moved From Intensive Care

Some good news to report on WSET Weatherman Jamey Singleton.

Singleton's family said he is now out of the intensive care unit at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. 

His condition is now listed guarded.

Singleton's family would also like to clarify that posts sent out on his Facebook page and Twitter were not directly from Jamey.  They were automated posts on weather conditions, not to be confused with his own forecast.

Singleton was injured when the car he was driving cross the center median ​and crashed into an oncoming truck. Singleton was cited in the crash for reckless driving.

Man Sues Cleveland Station Over Porn Report

A guy is suing WOIO in Cleveland and it could get costly for the station.​

Courthouse News Service writes that WOIO defamed a high school teacher by reporting he had child pornography on his school computer, despite a warning from his attorney that the claim was false, the teacher claims in court.

Georgio Sabino III sued WOIO LLC and its reporter Ed Gallek, in Cuyahoga County Court.

The NABJ wasn't too happy when word got out that Jeff Zucker is pulling Soledad O'Brien from mornings on CNN.

It looks like Zucker is trying to calm the waters, before they get too choppy.​

FishbowlDC reports that CNN President Jeff Zucker is scheduled to meet today in Atlanta with the leadership of the National Association of Black Journalists to discuss the state of black journalists at the network, FishbowlDC has learned.

FTVLive is hearing rumblings that Nexstar is sniffing around some of the smaller market Cox stations.​

Word is that Cox maybe be looking to sell some of their small market stations to the buying happy Nexstar.​

Nexstar recently purchased a number of the Newport stations and they said they weren't done looking for properties to buy.

We hear that Nexstar is particularly ​interested in KFOX in El Paso.

Forty years after Bill Kurtis and Walter Jacobson first teamed up at WBBM CBS 2 in Chicago, they’ll sign off for last time this Thursday. Then they’ll hand over the 6pm weekday newscast they’ve been anchoring since September 2010 to Rob Johnson and Kate Sullivan.

What began amid hopes for a ratings renaissance at the station Bill & Walter once transformed into a powerhouse ultimately amounted to a nostalgic curtain call for one of Chicago television’s most celebrated partnerships.

“I think we’ve benefited more than CBS,” Kurtis says.

Culkins posted the news on his Facebook page:​

Suffice it to say ... I feel blessed and fortunate for the opportunities and support for the last two decades at KRIV-TV.
