Network Cancels Morning Show

A major network is airing their last morning show Today.

After more than four decades on the air, CTV's Canada AM, which is the Canadian version of the Today Show,  will broadcast its final episode Today.

The worst part? CTV gave viewers and many staffers just 24 hours notice. Yep, they found out yesterday, that Today is the last show.

The morning show's farewell episode will acknowledged its long history and pay tribute to hosts Beverly Thomson, Marci Ien and Jeff Hutcheson.

"We are incredibly thankful to our viewers from coast-to-coast-to-coast who have been with us on this journey and a heartfelt part of our TV family all these years," Thomson, Ien and Hutcheson said in a joint statement on Thursday. "We are extremely proud of Canada AM. It has been our privilege to be part of this historic Canadian series that brought us the opportunity to work with such an incredible team."

CTV News Channel will simulcast in Canada AM's 6-9 a.m. timeslot beginning on Monday. CTV says it will announce a new program for the timeslot next week.

"As the television landscape continues to evolve, so too must our programming," Randy Lennox, Bell Media's president of Entertainment Production and Broadcasting, said in a statement. "We look forward to building upon the success of Canada AM as we move forward."
