When WCMH in Columbus hired Katie Ferrell in August to be their new morning Anchor, Ferrell said she was “thrilled to be home” in Ohio.
She might not as thrilled now.
Less than a year anchoring the AM news, WCMH is demoting Ferrell to weekends and moving up Monica Day to its weekday morning newscast.
Day, who has been with the station since 2006, will work with Matt Barnes, who took over as co-anchor of the program in January.
Ferrell moves to the weekend evening news, filling the job that will be vacated next month by Candice Lee (FTVLive FIRST reported that Lee is leaving to follow her son to New York).
How is Ferrell handing the demotion? Sources tell FTVLive that after she was told, she packed up her desk and left the station. Word is she is now on "vacation" before she returns to her new job.
We have a feeling that the "thrill" is gone.
