CBS to Record Weekend Morning News, Cancel Evening

In a big effort to cut cost, CBS News is going to quit producing a the Evening News on weekends and start recording the weekend morning shows.
CBS Evening News weekend Anchors Jim Axelrod and Jeff Glor (who went to the same high school as FTVLive) are expected to stay with CBS News says the network, i.e. until their contract runs out.
As for the weekend mornings, CBS plans on taping the newscasts and if any breaking news happens, they will rely on CBS streaming service CBSN.
"The network is really looking to cut costs," a top CBS insider tells FTVLive.
CBS recently hired Josh Elliott, but according to our source, CBS "....is paying him next to nothing, NBC is paying the bulk of his contract."
Elliott was pushed out at NBC after the network made big fanfare about his hiring.
CBS is said to be readying the network for 2017, which is expected to be a very lean year for broadcasters.
