Morley Safer, Dies

Last week, FTVLive reported on the retirement of 60-minutes mainstay, Morley Safer.  This morning, Safer passed away at age 84.  The only statement from CBS as to a cause is that he'd been in 'declining health'.

Safer was the longest tenured correspondent on 60-minutes, outlasting Mike Wallace, Dan Rather, Harry Reasoner, Ed Bradley and Andy Rooney. He filed 919 reports for the program over the time of almost five decades.

60-minutes EP Jeff Fager said, "He never carried himself as if he was important. He was a reporter."
