Bumped Up in Chicago

With longtime Anchor Ron Magers retiring from WLS, the station has to shuffle some Anchors around.

WLS announced that Rob Elgas will be the ABC O&O's new 4PM Anchor when Magers steps down later this month.

Elgas will anchor alongside Linda Yu, as well as sports anchor Jim Rose and meteorologist Cheryl Scott.

Elgas takes over the 4:00pm newscast anchor role from Alan Krashesky, who is replacing the retiring Ron Magers on the 5:00pm and 10:00pm newscasts as of that same date.

Elgas was hired by WLS as a reporter and fill-in news anchor this past summer from crosstown rival WMAQ.

"Since joining our news team Rob has done an outstanding job for us. He's a Chicago area native who relishes covering news in and around Chicago and has forged a real connection with viewers here. His on-air warmth, experience, and enthusiasm for his work are the same qualities that have made him such an integral part of our newsroom this past year," said LS News Director Jennifer Graves.
