FTVLive FIRST told you that former WTMJ Anchor George Mallett was spotted interviewing at the Milwaukee station for a second stint at the station.
Yesterday, FTVLive told you that the station would likely announce Mallett's hiring on Monday.
Well guess what?
The station did just that.
WTMJ News Director Janet Hundley sent out this memo to the staff, obtained by FTVLive:
Our team continues to grow! I'm thrilled to announce that George Mallet is returning to TODAY'S TMJ4 to report on a regular basis and co-anchor the 5p and 10p newscasts with Carole Meekins. We are excited about him joining our outstanding team. I've attached the official news release.
Having worked with George in a previous life, I know first hand he's a great journalist and great guy. For those of you who aren't acquainted with George, know that he will be a strong addition to our already terrific team. George will be here tomorrow for our staff meeting and then hit the ground running.
WTMJ GM Joe Poss had this to say about Mallett's hiring, “We are so pleased to welcome George back. He understands the community we serve and the sense of responsibility we feel to tell important, meaningful local stories. He’s a great fit for Milwaukee.”
