West Palm Beach Station Forced off the Air

WPTV staffers were ordered to evacuate the station in the middle of their evening newscast. 

Firefighters were called to the WPTV studio during the 5PM newscast after workers detected the smell of smoke.

Employees were ordered out of the building by West Palm Beach Fire Rescue around 5:45 p.m.  

The smell came from an air handler on the air conditioning system. 

The all clear was later given and WPTV resumed broadcasting at 6:12 p.m.

No one was injured.
