Scripps Station Wants Demoted Anchor to Stay
/WKBW (Buffalo) is telling longtime Anchor Keith Radford that they want him to stay after his contract expires.
Radford's contract expires in November and he has already lost his anchor duties on the 5PM and 11PM broadcasts and while he is being scaled back, he is not being pushed out.
“We are interested in extending Keith beyond his present contract,” said Channel 7 General Manager Michael Nurse.
Radford started anchoring the the noon newscast on Friday. The station confirmed that Radford is is adding the much less prestiges to his day.
“In this way, we also cross-promote the morning anchor while adding more resources to the evening,” said Nurse. “Keith graciously agreed and he still will be able to work on feature stories in between the 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. newscasts as needed.”
It is a solid bet that if Radford stays it will at a much lower salary, but at 65 years old, it's not like stations are banging down his door to offer gigs.
This could be a good move for him and the station.
Stay tuned....
