Weather Anchor Busted for DUI Will Return to the Station

It looks like WGRZ in Buffalo is not going to drop the Hammer.

Station Meteorologist Patrick Hammer has been off the air for over 2 months after he was busted by police for felony DUI. It was not his first drunk driving arrest.

But, now the station says that Hammer will return to work this week and will be doing the Weekend forecasts for the Tenga station.

WGRZ General Manager Jim Toellnerconfirmed that Hammer was returning to his old job, but the GM declined to give any other information, because you know, the communication business.

Hammer was hired as the eventual replacement for longtime main Weather Anchor Kevin O’Connell. After his November 3rd arrest, many wondered if/how the station could keep him?

The station never reported of commented on Hammer's arrest and would only say he was “on personal leave.”

With the Feb book right around the corner, could we be seeing a story on how Hammer "hit rock bottom and is now getting his life back in order"?

We would not be surprised.
