Former KNXV (Phoenix) News Director Joe Hengemuehler left the station back in 2012 saying, “After 25 years in the broadcast industry and 10 great years at ABC15 News, I have decide to re-invent myself.”
He was working as Glendale's interim communications director, until he was offered another job back in TV news.
It looks like the "re-inventing" is over.
Starting October 5th, Hengemuehler will be the new News Director at KOLD in Tucson.
“Once a journalist, always a journalist,” he said. “I’m really excited about this new role and looking forward to getting started.”
Before his Glendale gig, he owned a marketing and research firm. He also was an invited professor for Journalism Ethics and Diversity at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism.
But, it looks like he found out that all of that is really boring compared to TV news.
