Lindsay Lohan Loses Lawsuit Against Fox News
/Mean girl Lindsay Lohan sued Fox News over remarks a network guest made on air about her drug use.
After the guest made the comments, FNC posted the clip online and refused to take it down when Lindsay's lawyers asked them to.
The actress and her mother Dina filed a defamation lawsuit against the company earlier this year, claiming they were hurt and upset by comments made by a guest on newsman Sean Hannity's show in February, 2014, suggesting they took cocaine together.
Now, a judge in the case has shut the Lohans down, stating, "Truth is a defence", and insisting the comments weren't made maliciously, according to TMZ.com.
The lawmaker also dismissed Dina's separate lawsuit, in which she claimed she was defamed by the same Fox News guest, Michelle Fields, over remarks made about her relationship with her famous daughter during a discussion about celebrities who had lost their lives following drug overdoses.
In the Lohans suit, filed in February, their lawyer claimed Fields "falsely, inappropriately and shockingly stated, unequivocally and as a 'matter of fact' that 'Lindsay Lohan's mother is doing cocaine with her'."
The legal complaint continued, "Fields made the false, defamatory, heartless, derogatory comment in the context of the show's topic... (It) was a direct smear on the character/reputation of (the Lohans)... (and it) was a totally irresponsible and malicious innuendo... (that) Lindsay Lohan might become the next celebrity to join the obituary list."
