Another One Out the Door at Fox Chicago

The revolving door door continues to spin at WFLD in Chicago.

Morning Anchor Jon Kelley is not having his contract renewed and will be leaving the Fox O&O when his current contract ends later this year.

It will be his second time leaving Chicago TV. Kelley's eventual replacement at WFLD has already been found and will be starting next month.

Said Kelley today: "I have decided it's time for me to embark on a new adventure. I want to thank Fox 32 for supporting me in achieving this goal."

Beginning October 12th, George Smith Jr. will join WFLD as the newest morning news Anchor.

Smith is a nomadic television journalist who has worked in numerous markets nationwide over the last 25 years. He most recently served as an anchor/reporter for WOIO and WUAB in Cleveland, exiting at the end of May when his contract was not renewed.

It is Smith's Cleveland job that helped bring him to Chicago. The new "Good Day Chicago" Executive Producer, hired last month, is Dan Salamone. Prior to taking the Chicago job, Salamone served as News Director for WOIO-TV and WUAB-TV, where he worked with Smith.
